First of all, please forgive any typos in this post as my left index finger is injured at the moment. (Man, those rotary cutters are sharp!) Anyway, I was thinking about the
Nativity Advent calendar that I did a couple years ago, and thought it might be neat to make one for Halloween. As I was thinking about what I wanted this countdown calendar to look like, I remembered some drawings that I used to make as a child during Halloween time. They were elaborate pictures of witches brewing potions and riding around on broomsticks with their black cats. This the scene I came up with, straight out of my childhood imagination.
Everything is sewn by hand or machine. It measures 20" x 30" and
has 31 pockets to put each figure in. Every day for the month of
October, you take a figure out, and add it to the scene. When the scene
is complete, that means it's Halloween. I'm really pleased with the
way it turned out. I want to go back to my childhood and play with all
the fun pieces that I imagined!
I think my favorite parts are the little embroidered spell book, spiderwebs, and jar of eyeballs. :)
I cut the Velcro into little pumpkins and stars to keep it cute and functional.
