Giveaway Winner!

Thank you to everyone who entered the mask & crown giveaway!  The winner is...

Lucky number 49, Dina Wayne!  Congratulations!  I will be contacting you shortly to see which two items you would like.

Check back soon for free templates and a tutorial to make this birthday crown that I whipped up for my niece last night.  My sister had the idea.  It still needs some tweaking, but it's a birthday crown with removable numbers so you can use the same one year after year.  Stick around... I might also decide to do another giveaway! :)  EDIT:  Crown tutorial and template can be found here.

Halloween Countdown Calendar

First of all, please forgive any typos in this post as my left index finger is injured at the moment. (Man, those rotary cutters are sharp!)  Anyway, I was thinking about the Nativity Advent calendar that I did a couple years ago, and thought it might be neat to make one for Halloween.  As I was thinking about what I wanted this countdown calendar to look like, I remembered some drawings that I used to make as a child during Halloween time.  They were elaborate pictures of witches brewing potions and riding around on broomsticks with their black cats.  This the scene I came up with, straight out of my childhood imagination.

Everything is sewn by hand or machine.  It measures 20" x 30" and has 31 pockets to put each figure in.  Every day for the month of October, you take a figure out, and add it to the scene.  When the scene is complete, that means it's Halloween.  I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.  I want to go back to my childhood and play with all the fun pieces that I imagined!

I think my favorite parts are the little embroidered spell book, spiderwebs, and jar of eyeballs. :)

I cut the Velcro into little pumpkins and stars to keep it cute and functional.

To get the PDF pattern, please visit my BRAND NEW Etsy shop, Cutesy Crafts Boutique!

I am really excited about my new shop!  I plan on selling all sorts of handmade gifts, holiday decorations, and who knows what else.  Check back in often to see what else I come up with.
